The school imbibes CISCE board syllabus from pre-kindergarten to Grade V for the academic session 2019-20. There will be incremental class each year, which will be extended up to grade XII.
ICSE has prescribed curriculum which is based on 9 core pointers. Keeping those pointers in mind and also the current trend in the education sector, we have amalgamated different methodologies.
to meet the needs of today’s young learners who will be the trailblazers in future.Learning is not confined to a particular space or method. According to the concept, different strategies are employed and ensured that no one is left behind. Learning from teachers, books, audio, video, hands on, field visits, trial and error method, experiential learning, collaborative and active learning, peer learning, ‘teacher in me’ are some of the best practices we employ for content delivery.
The learners will be trained vigorously for three languages from grade I to grade VIII. English, Kannada and Hindi are compulsory for these grades. Kannada is compulsory as II Language from grade I to grade V. However, from grade III, they can opt for either Kannada or Hindi as their II language. Further, the learners will study only two languages from grade IX, out of which, English I language is compulsory and they can opt for either Kannada or Hindi for II Language.
The other Compulsory/Optional subjects in ICSE syllabus are:
Social Science
Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Computer Application
Commercial Studies
Home Science
Physical Education
Upon the successful completion of 2 years and 6 months, a child is admitted to Pre-kindergarten. For four months, the child is kept away from writing activities. Formal writing is introduced in the month of October after Dussehera vacation. In LKG, the children extend their understanding of what they have experienced in Pre kindergarten and UKG is the bridging gap between LKG and Grade I. At VLSIPS, a child is nurtured with the skills to cope up with the developmental stages with compassion. The child undergoes many developmental stages and our curriculum is woven around these phases for a stronger foundation.
Music, dance, yoga, swimming, art, field trips, activities are integral part of the school curriculum.
Key highlight of this block is 'Exploring new avenues in terms of Experience, Engagements and Emotions’
There are ample opportunities for the child’s rapid physical development, provided the child gets support from various aspects. These support systems are the right amount of nutrition, enough body movement, sound sleep and happy environment.
The emphasis is more on LSR rather than writing in the initial stages for cognitive development. We are doing away with loads of writing and H.W. which take away natural interest for learning.
At present time and in the years to come, EQ is more sought after rather than IQ. The facilitators at our school are loaded with patience to cater to the needs of our young buds. They are allowed to express their emotions.
‘Values are not taught but caught’. Believing these words, we expose the children to undergo such experiences through various activities. Story Telling is one of the key features of learning. The learners use their highly imaginative skills to understand any concept.
The learners are allowed to use their heart, head and hand profusely. Montessori activities facilitate learners to involve themselves thoroughly. Sensorial activities will be the highlight. They also grow up to be independent individuals who will follow grace and courtesy.
Connecting them to discover themselves. The essence of this is ‘To love thyself and others as humans’. The most appropriate way of spreading brotherhood and cheer among all.
We cannot stop the rapid growth of the gadgets, which influences all of us. Technology in education is taking a big leap and it is going to stay here. It is our endeavour to make our children connected in person not virtually to develop social skills. They will also visit golden days of our ancestors through various cultural events. They will also connect to the people who are socially disconnected. ‘Going back to the roots’ is the key to this initiative.
The kids are born with this special attribute. With the influence of chaotic life style, the ability to appreciate the nature’s beauty is not enjoyed by humans. Our endeavour is to help children to discover the beauty of nature in its true sense.
Based on the foundation they have formed until now in kindergarten, the children are exposed to more experiential learning with fun and hands on. Each year they progress with one special skill. In grade I more emphasis is laid on Communication Skills, Grade II - Social Skills, Grade III - Digital Literacy, Grade IV - Decision Making, Grade V – Problem Solving… so on and so forth in an integrated and infused manner.
